Buying or Selling a Taska or Tadika in Johor Bahru, Malaysia
In Malaysia a taska (a childcare centre for children under four) is registered with the Social Welfare Department (JKM) under the Child Care Centre Act 1984, and a tadika (a kindergarten for ages four to six) with the Ministry of Education under the Education Act 1996. A JKM certificate is not transferable, so a new operator needs its own registration.
Malaysia runs childcare and kindergartens as two separate regimes under two different agencies, so the steps when a centre changes hands depend on which one you are buying or selling. These guides set out the registration rules, what has to be notified or re-approved, and the checks a buyer should make in Johor Bahru.
Every regulatory point is taken from Malaysian legislation and government pages, cited in each guide. Singapore rules such as ECDA licensing do not apply in Malaysia.
